Mr. Hivick is an associate at Fiala & Weaver P.L.L.C. His work currently focuses on patent application drafting. Prior to joining Fiala & Weaver, Mr. Hivick was an attorney for a multinational telecommunications and entertainment company where he focused primarily on patent analysis for non-infringement and invalidity, providing legal opinions, and litigation support. Prior to that, Mr. Hivick was an attorney with Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe where he represented clients in patent litigation matters in the federal district courts, as well as the International Trade Commission.
Mr. Hivick has worked on intellectual property matters involving many electrical, mechanical, and software technologies, including analog and digital circuits, business methods, computer graphics and architectures, databases, multi-layer ceramic capacitors, optical amplifiers, Internet-related applications, cloud-based applications, desktop applications, MEMS technology, mobile devices, radio frequency (RF) communication, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, semiconductors, and medical devices.
Prior to law school, Mr. Hivick worked for an integrated circuit design startup company performing transistor level IC design, layout and verification. Mr. Hivick subsequently worked as a software design engineer in test for a multinational Redmond-based software company in product lines involving relational and hierarchical databases.
